Summary
Finish Details: Original
Body Material: Alder Body
Body Details: Solid one piece alder body. The red in the front sunburst has faded considerably, although it is still visible under the pickguard and trem assembly; this is likely from the guitar staying in a window for an extended period of time.
Neck Material: Maple Neck
Fingerboard Material: Brazilian Rosewood
Neck Profile: Soft “V” profile
Neck Thickness (IN): .79″ (1st fret), .97″ (12th fret)
Fingerboard Radius: 7.25″ to
Nut Width: 1-5/8″
Scale Length: 25 1/2″
Neck Details: Bolt-on maple neck with unbound Brazilian rosewood veneer fretboard, dot inlays, and truss rod adjustment at the heel. There are a couple small pinholes at the first and 21st frets, which are likely just pores in the fretboard opening up. The neck has a “4FEB65B” heel stamp.
Electronics: Original grey bobbin Fender single coil pickups and wiring harness, with 3-way toggle selector switch, master volume/tone controls, rhythm circuit on/off slide switch, and rhythm circuit volume/tone rollers. The pickups have 1965 pencil dates on the back of the bobbins; the pots are a mix of CTS and Stackpole, and date to 1963/1965.
Pickup Measurements: 8.1k (neck), 7.9k (bridge)
Hardware: Original; the trem arm is included in the case.
Weight: 7 lbs 7 oz
Modifications/Repairs: None
Case Details: Nash hardshell case, containing trem arm.
Cosmetic Condition: The guitar shows light wear for its age; the finish has light scratches throughout, and the red in the front sunburst has faded considerably from sunlight (although it is still visible in concealed areas on the body). The edges of the body have multiple dings, small chips, and various light scratches, and there is light finish checking throughout. The neck has various small marks, and the pickguard has curled over time.
Serial Number: 101654
Tech Notes: Plays well with low action and optimal neck relief; the guitar is currently set up with 10s. The frets are narrow and low with minor wear. The neck heel stamp, serial number, pickup dates and pot codes date the guitar to 1965.
