Taking their cue from the drum shells that started it all in the 50s and 60s, C&C Player Date series kits are being built by the same crew, and in the same shop as their highly regarded custom series. Meant to be a more affordable, yet still high quality series of drums, Player Dates are available in a handful of different size configurations and finishes (mahogany lacquer, honey lacquer, walnut lacquer, green sparkle wrap, and silver sparkle wrap, to name a few). The Player Date 1 kits are built with all luan mahogany shells, and the Player Date 2 kits are built with maple/mahogany shells. All Player Dates feature C&C double-ended center lugs and “full contact” bearing edges, which resemble 50s Gretsch edges. These allow the drums to be tuned extra low, and give them plenty of range and warmth. The 1″ shorter depth of the toms allows for lower tuning ranges than standard sizes, without bottoming out or sounding flat.
These drums can be seen being played out by the drummers for The Shins, My Morning Jacket, and Modest Mouse, amongst others.
This is a C&C Player Date 2 set in the “Rock” configuration. Sizes are 13×8, 16×15, and 24×14. Shells are luan mahogany and maple, and finish is a gold sparkle wrap. Snare stand not included.
