Neck Details: Bolt-on maple neck with unbound Brazilian rosewood slab fretboard, clay dot inlays, and heel-adjust truss rod. The neck has an “11 – 61” pencil date on the heel. There is a small chip around the G tuner which was glued, likely from when the tuners were replaced.
Electronics: Original single coil pickups with black fiberboard bobbins, and original electronics with 3-way toggle switch and master volume/tone controls. The pickups are wired in series in the middle switch position, and the pot codes date to 1961. There is a replaced ground wire leading from the bridge to the aluminum pickguard shielding.
Pickup Measurements: 5.2k (neck), 5.3k (bridge)
Hardware: The tuners have been replaced with ’70s Fender tuners.
Weight: 6 lbs 11 oz
Cosmetic Condition: This vintage Fender Duo-Sonic has aged nicely, with plenty of play wear and signs of use on the glossy finish. There are a number of finish chips and dings along the sides of the body which have been touched up with red lacquer, as well as undisturbed patches of wear through to wood. The back of the body shows heavier wear and buckle rash, and the back of the neck is nicely worn in. There is a chip on the bass edge of the fretboard between the first and second frets, which is not affecting playability. There is also a chip in the headstock near the G tuner which was previously repaired. The “Fender” headstock decal is worn in the middle.
Modifications/Repairs: -The tuners have been replaced
-Some touchups on the body
-Repaired chip-out around the G tuner
Serial Number: 62754
Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action and optimal neck relief; the original narrow frets are low with light play wear. The heel date, electronics, and serial number date the guitar to 1961.
