Body Material: Alder Body
Body Details: Solid two piece alder body. The body has been fully refinished; it appears to have been previously refinished in a solid metallic color, and subsequently refinished again to sunburst. The metallic lacquer is still visible in the body routes, and is also obscuring any body date. Factory nail holes are however visible, which dates the body to pre-1965.

Neck Details: Bolt-on one piece fretted maple neck with skunk stripe, dot inlays, and heel-adjust truss rod. The neck has been refretted with jumbo frets, refinished; during the refret the fingerboard radius was changed to 9.5″. The nut has also been replaced. The neck heel has a “9-58” pencil date.
Electronics: Original black bobbin Fender single coil pickups; the guitar has been previously rewired with cloth wire and non-original pots and switch. The tone cap appears to be vintage and era-correct. Controls include 5-way blade selector switch, master volume control, neck tone control, and middle pickup tone control. The pots do not have date codes.

Hardware: The tuners, pickguard, trem cavity cover, and G/B/e saddles are not original. The remaining hardware appears to be original; the jack plate appears to have been previously sprayed black and was sanded back to its original finish. The trem arm is included.

Case Details: Original hardshell case
Cosmetic Condition: The guitar has aged nicely, with plenty of character. The body and neck were previously refinished, and have developed mild finish checking and areas of play wear. The front of the body has several small dings below the bridge, and there are heavy scratches on the jack plate. The sides of the body have numerous small dings and finish chips, and the back has moderate buckle rash and additional checking. The back of the neck is smooth with some nice wear along the edges of the fretboard, and the headstock face has additional light checking.

Tech Notes: Plays well with low action and optimal neck relief; the guitar is currently set up with 10s. The frets are wide and tall with light wear. The body has no visible date markings due to the previous refinish, however the factory nail holes date to pre-1965. The neck heel pencil marking dates to 1958, and the neck plate serial number dates to 1959.
